Summer Festival at Machiya

START: Aug 10, 2012 END: Aug 16, 2012

Since opening in Aug. 1995, Hakata Machiya Furusato-Kan (a facility devoted to showcasing Hakata culture) has hosted an annual summer festival. In addition to the Japanese “machiya” – or merchant townhouse, the festival’s many activities include making moss balls and making water pistols from bamboo. Browse the market stalls, and enjoy traditional dance exhibitions.
