The Table for New Year (Workshop)

Try your hand at some authentic festive Japanese cooking! Japanese people eat a special selection of dishes during the New Year celebration called osechi-ryōri, typically shortened to osechi. In this event, you’ll learn how to prepare the special dishes, and understand special meanings of each dish’s ingredients – such as good health, good harvest, happiness, prosperity, long life etc. The workshop is run in English and Japanese by instructor Kiyomi Mitumizo. No pork or beef used, however chicken and fish will be used. This workshop is part of a series of Japanese cultural experiences “The Way of Japan” run by NPO Hearty Care Foundation to promote interaction amongst the international community.
