Fancy trying open water swimming in Fukuoka? All levels are welcome at this event, organized by the Japan International Open Water Swimming Association (JIOWSA), which takes place at the beautiful Satsuki Matsubara Beach in Munakata on July 20th. Individual swimmers can choose between three distances: 500m, 1km and 3km. There’s also a relay option in which teams of four swimmers cover a total distance of 2km. The inclusion of a relatively short 500m course and the presence of a large number of lifeguards means this a great race for anybody looking to get into the sport, or build confidence for their first triathlon.
