Fukuoka Prefecture is organizing an international event to promote awareness of women’s advancement in workplaces and communities. Around the same time many events related to the advancement of women in Japan with distinguished international speakers will be held.
Fukuoka’s “Collaborative Conversation with 300 Men & Women” will be held on Sep. 14 at Hotel New Otani Hakata. The program consists of a keynote speech, relay talks and world cafe session. Japanese/English simultaneous translation will be provided, and English speaking tables are available during the world cafe session. The keynote speech will be by Ms. Sima Samar, a well-known women’s and human rights advocate, activist, who served as Minister of Women’s Affairs of Afghanistan from December 2001 to 2003 and is currently the Chairperson of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC). Relay talks by Ms. Ruriko Shirouz: a successful entrepreneur, Ms. Mariko Sato: Chief of UN-Habitat Bangkok, Ms. Yoko Kudo: Manager at AEON Kyushu, Ms. Reiko Nakajima: Community activist. World cafe is a simple, effective, and flexible format for hosting large group dialogue. All genders/generations are welcome.
