Every year famous landmarks across Japan are illuminated with special blue lighting to mark World Diabetes Day (Nov. 14). Led by the World Diabetes Day Committee in Japan, the initiative aims to help spread awareness about diabetes. In Fukuoka, the main shrine at Dazaifu Tenmangu will turn blue, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. From 13:00 there will be health consultations with doctors, nurses and nutritionists, demonstration of blood glucose self-measurement, and a screening of the World Diabetes Day video. There will also be a lecture on sarcopenia (14:00~15:30). The light up will be accompanied by a special concert (18:00~).
