To promote awareness of diabetes, famous landmarks across Japan will be illuminated with special blue lighting every year, led by the World Diabetes Day Committee in Japan. In Fukuoka, the main shrine at Dazaifu Tenmangu will turn blue to mark the World Diabetes Day (Nov. 14), creating an otherworldly atmosphere. There will be health consultations with doctors, nurses and nutritionists, demonstration of blood glucose self-measurement, and a screening of the World Diabetes Day video (1 pm onwards). Check out the lecture on sarcopenia (2 pm to 3:30 pm) and the special concert (6 pm) too.
