See happi coats that were worn as far back as 120 years ago by the Yamakasa districts of Doi, Susaki (Daikoku), Higashimachi (Higashi), Gofukumachi (Nishi and Higashi), Uonomachi (Fukujin), Ishidou (Ebesu), and Nishimachi (Nishi) on display at Fukuoka City Museum. These happi coats are also known as “long happi”. Check out the different patterns of the happi and learn about the culture of each Yamakasa district. The happi of Gofukumachi, Uonomachi, Ishidou, and Nishimachi will be on display from July 10.
