The town of Yame has long been considered a center of excellence for traditional craft goods in Kyushu, playing host to the Yame Fukushima butsudan (Buddhist altars) and Yame chochin lanterns, both of which are nationally designated traditional crafts. This exhibition gives onlookers the chance to take in hand crafted stone lanterns, washi paper, spinning tops, Yame arrows and even some contemporary lanterns from some of the prefecture’s best craftspeople. For those wanting a more hands on experience, workshops will be running throughout the event so don’t miss the chance for a little handiwork yourself!
