Shirasu Kujira is the casual offshoot of Isogai, a seafood izakaya known around Japan for its high-quality seafood. Because the shop has a license to buy direct from the Nagahama Seafood Market, you can enjoy fresh wild seafood for a reasonable price. You can order sushi one piece at a time, and items include mackerel and horse mackerel, which are not typically eaten raw outside of Fukuoka given the city’s proximity to prime fishing grounds. You can also enjoy Isogai’s signature miso-grilled Japanese armorhead (or sablefish).
