Crab and lamb and cantaloupe – oh my! It can only be the Hokkaido Fair in Fukuoka. The fair dedicated to Hokkaido’s delicious produce and fare kicked off today (May 12) in Tenjin Chuo Park.
This is one of the biggest Hokkaido fairs in all of Kyushu, and the weather is just perfect for it! Around 50 booths offer delicious Hokkaido fare, including rice with crab and salmon roe, barbecued crab claws of monstrous proportions, rotisserie lamb, and the fair’s best-selling cantaloupe with soft cream (make it extra melon-y by choosing melon-flavored soft cream).
We also enjoyed the Kari Kari Cheese Sticks: cheese wrapped in crunchy, deep-fried pastry. Five rival ramen shops compete for your favor too! Enjoy in the park or take away.
Go quick – it ends Sun.! And after you’ve gorged yourself on Hokkaido goodies, why not finish off your meal with a drink at Belgian Beer Weekend – less than 3 minutes away by foot!
