The IMS Beer & Highball Garden launched for 2013 with a press event on Monday 5/27, and Fukuoka Now was on the scene! Although conditions were a little windy, that didn’t stop guests from enjoying the glittering atmosphere at the open-air rooftop beer garden. Popular restaurant Nonobudo provides the type of buffet that you don’t expect from a beer garden – top quality, fresh dishes using delicious local produce.
There are fresh salads, soups, and an impressive selection of cold and hot dishes. Standout items include cold ramen noodles, squid yakitori, yakisoba, chinese sweet pork and some amazing salads. There’s also a teppanyaki chef on hand to serve up original recipe sausages and other meats. Meanwhile in the drinks department, Hakata Ono provides an extensive menu of all-you-can-drink beverages including sparkling wine, Suntory beer and Kirin Frozen Beer on tap and a variety of 12 alcoholic highballs- including “Kaku Highball”, “Flavor Highball” and “Beauty Highball”. There’s also a range of nonalcoholic “Beauty Soda” cocktails, in peach, apple, yuzu, honey lemon and rosehip. New this year, there’s a do-it-yourself cotton candy magazine with two color options – pink or yellow.
The enthusiastic, jinbei-wearing staff at the IMS Beer & Highball Garden take pride in their venue, creating a more upmarket atmosphere for the cosy beer garden, which seats 100 and is especially popular with ladies. The garden is open 116 days from May 29 to Sep. 23, located on the rooftop of the IMS Building in Tenjin. The perfect place to spend a warm summer’s night!
