Since 2005, Michiyo Kobayashi has served seasonal kaiseki ryori inside a beautifully reformed old Japanese country home located in a very pastoral area of Nijo, Itoshima. Last month (Aug. 2019) she opened a fully-detached spacious auberge that can comfortably sleep five. The ground floor has a bath and a large living room with a wood-burning stove. The loft features tatami mats which can be used as a space to enjoy tea or to sleep three on futon. There’s plenty to do in the area. Kobayashi recommends walking down to the coast to see the sunset (35 minutes), or the nearby hot spring. She’s more than happy to help you explore deep Itoshima. Or just stay nearby and discover the beauty of countryside life.
