¥10,000 Counterfeit Bills Found in Fukuoka

Police have discovered counterfeit bills at a number of shrines around Fukuoka Prefecture. It appears that fake ¥10,000 bills have been used to purchase omamori (lucky charms) at seven shrines including Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (Daizaifu City), Kushida Shrine, (Fukuoka City), Munakata Taisha (Munakata City). Local police are currently searching for both the counterfeiters and the people that used the forged notes. Video footage from a security camera located in the grounds of one of the shrines appears to show the figure of one of the individuals who used some of the notes. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 4/19/2018
