67th Anniversary of the Bombing of Nagasaki

Today, at the ceremony held to mark the 67th anniversary of the tragic event, Nagasaki Mayor, Tomihisa Taue, is expected to push the government for a change to nuclear-free world. He says that the Fukushima nuclear disaster shows us that a change to nuclear-free energy must also take place. The ceremony will also be attended by Clifton Truman Daniel– the grandson of Theodor Truman, US president at the time of the bombing. On August 7, Daniel visited Nagasaki for the first time. He had discussion with the 3 survivors of the atomic bomb at the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Archive. Daniel was invited to Nagasaki by the brother of “Sadako”, a symbol of innocent victims of war and the model of a famous memorial statue in Nagasaki.
