77% of Kyushu and Okinawa Companies Suffered Reduced Income in May

On June 23, the Fukuoka Branch of Tokyo Shoko Research released the findings of a survey on the economic impact of the spread of the new coronavirus. According to that, as much as 77.2% of responded companies suffered reduced income in May, compared to the same month in 2019. The worst figure in the past four months also reflected the loss of business opportunities during the Golden Week holidays. The survey was conducted between May 28 ~ June 9 and responded by 1,518 groups. Meanwhile, the Japan Department Store Association revealed a 68% decrease in the net sales of four Fukuoka-city based department stores in May. Source: TSR
