A new tourism faculty at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) is planning to run classes in conjunction with the ANA Intercontinental Beppu Resort & Spa, which will open later this year. APU is aiming to establish their new department by spring 2021 at the earliest. The move marks the first time that the university has set up a new undergraduate school since their founding in 2000. Representatives of APU met with officials from the hotel company to discuss the possibility of collaborating on research projects, setting-up internship programs, and providing on-the-job training at accommodation facilities.
