Phoenix Resorts, the operator of the Seagaia resort in Miyazaki, has announced plans to dismantle the shuttered indoor swimming facility known as Ocean Dome. The company has determined that it would cost too much to renovate the aging facility; no timeframe has been set for the dismantling work. At a press conference held at the Miyazaki Prefectural Office, company president Hirofumi Matsunaga stated, “We have confirmed that renovation fees would outstrip sales from any plan that made use of the Dome.” The facility will be scrapped once a plan for how to use the 84,600 square meter site has been selected.
