Miyama City has initiated a pilot program for AI-powered ride-sharing taxis to address transportation needs in its aging population. The system, available by reservation, links users’ homes to their destinations within the city. Three local taxis will participate, utilizing AI to optimize dispatch and routing. A pre-launch trial was held on September 30, where registered users tested the service, booking rides by phone and traveling according to AI-guided routes. The service is aimed at improving accessibility, especially for residents in areas far from bus stops, and will run until the end of November. Source: Miyama City / NHK
