Kitakyushu-based Kokura Terminal Building, a member of the JR Kyushu group, announced that it will swap out or renovate 15 shops in the western wing of the Amu Plaza Kokura shopping center and reopen on Sept. 6. This is the second phase of a large-scale renovation project that began this March in an effort to boost annual sales by 5%. This phase of renovations will cover the 2nd, 4th and 5th floors of the western wing of Amu Plaza, and the company hopes to attract more twentysomething female patrons with shops such as Retro Girl, whose outlet in the terminal building will be its first in Kitakyushu. In addition, a baby room will be opened on the renovated 4th floor to provide space for mothers to nurse and change their babies. After the March renovations, Kokura Terminal Building said total sales for the entire facility increased by 9.7% year-on-year for the period from March to July. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun, July 23
