Articulated ‘Bendy’ Buses Run in New Circular Route
Nishitetsu Bus began running articulated buses in a circular route between Tenjin, Hakata and the Waterfront Area in August. After a two month trial period, the number of passengers travelling along this route has increased threefold. The articulated buses are 18m long and each can carry up to 130 passengers. This development is part of the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) plan Nishitetsu and Fukuoka City have been working on for alleviation of inner city traffic congestion. Two buses are running clockwise and anticlockwise from around 07:30 every day. Bus stops are marked “BRT” in black with yellow background.
