The Triple Water Wheel in Asakura City is in operation again after being stopped to clear out driftwood, earth, and sand that had been clogging up the area following July’s extreme weather conditions. The historic set of turbines, which are among the oldest working water mills in the country, have been pumping water into local rice fields for nearly 230 years. Fukuoka Prefecture Governor Ogawa was present to watch the water wheels start running again and stated his hope to see agriculture restored to the area as soon as possible.
