Asia’s Largest Passenger Ship Calls on Port of Hakata

The Voyager of the Seas, Asia’s largest passenger ship, called on the port of Hakata on the 21st after departing from Shanghai. It is the first time the ship entered Japan. The ship is 311 meters long, weighs 137,000 tons, and carries 3,804 passengers. Immigration officials simplified entry procedures to reduce the time by half, and Fukuoka City spent roughly 250 million yen on improvements to the port because of anticipated economic benefits from regular visits by the ship.
