Bedridden Residents of Fukuoka Works Remotely as Waitstaff in Tokyo

Kyushu-based waiters and waitresses are working online to serve customers in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. “Pilots” of OriHime robots at Dawn Avatar Robot Café remotely perform their cafe tasks by welcoming guests, taking orders, and by chatting. Some fifty pilots are residents of Kyushu, including a Fukuoka-based mother of two children who has heart disease and a female college student with spinal muscular atrophy. The cafe provides working opportunities to people with limited mobility, even including bedridden persons. Hourly wages are within Tokyo’s standard. Source: Kumanichi / Dawn
