Cathay United Bank has secured approval from Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission to open a full branch in Tokyo and a sub-branch in Fukuoka City, marking its first direct entry into the Japanese market. The move aims to support Taiwanese businesses with cross-border financial services and bolster the bank’s role in regional economic integration.
Once operational, the bank will have 70 overseas offices in 13 global regions. The Tokyo branch will serve as the Japanese headquarters, targeting strategic partnerships in Japan’s economic center. The Fukuoka sub-branch will offer localized support and broaden customer access across Kyushu.
