Chinese Company Looking to Invest in Huis Ten Bosch

HIS are discussing the possibility of accepting an offer from a Chinese investment company for a significant stake in Huis Ten Bosch. Fosun International is interested in purchasing a 25% share in the Sasebo-based themed park and hopes to increase the number of Chinese tourists that visit the facility. HIS are the majority stockholder, with a two-thirds stake in the theme park, while leading Fukuoka companies such as Kyushu Electric Power and Saibu Gas own the remaining shares. In the 12 month period ending September 2017, Huis Ten Bosch took sales of ¥38.8 billion, with a final profit of ¥7.1 billion. Out of the 2.9 million people that visited the facility during this time, approximately 190,000 were international tourists. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 12/3/2018
