Cluster Found at Japan University of Economics and Other Locations in Fukuoka

On August 7, Fukuoka Prefecture announced 140 more cases of the new coronavirus infection. Eighty of those cases were found in Fukuoka City, which also announced the death of a COVID-19 patient in his seventies (*as of early morning Aug. 6.) Clusters were found at multiple locations including a Sawara Ward-based special nursing home for the elderly, Japan University of Economics (日本経済大学 福岡キャンパス) in Dazaifu, and a hospital in Sasaguri Town. The cumulative total for the prefecture is now 2,754. As infections continue to spread in Kyushu and Okinawa, the occupancy rate of hospital beds in Yamaga City, Kumamoto Prefecture, has reached 90% as of August 7. Sources: NHK / TNC / NHK
