Construction of Shinkansen between Isahaya and Nagasaki Authorized
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport authorized the start of construction on three sections of the Kyushu Shinkansen between Isahaya and Nagasaki City. The distance of the sections totals 21 kilometers. It is the first authorization for construction on this route since the inauguration of the Democratic Party of Japan government in 2009. Construction could begin in early August, and operation between Nagasaki City and Takeo Onsen would begin in 2022.
