A ceremony marking the start of construction on a new stretch of the Kyushu Shinkansen between Isahaya and Nagasaki City was held on the 18th. This part of the Shinkansen is scheduled to begin operation in 2022. It will cut the travel time between Fukuoka City and Nagasaki City by 28 minutes.
