Controls Maybe Lifted as COVID-19 Situation Improves

The new coronavirus infection situation in Fukuoka Prefecture has improved. The regional occupancy rate of secured hospital beds fell below 20% for the first time in about seven months, meeting the Stage II criterion. This permits the prefecture to request lifting the ‘mann-enn boushi to juten sochi’ COVID-19 control program set by the national government. However, some executive staff remain cautious as the prefecture’s daily infection count surpasses 30 on some days. A meeting with expert advisors would be held today to discuss the next move.
