Corona-linked Job Losses Rise in Kyushu and Okinawa

More than 3,600 new coronavirus-linked job losses have been reported in Kyushu and Okinawa as of June 19. According to the regional Labor Bureaus, 1,680 companies cut or plan to cut jobs in the region. Prefecture-wise, Fukuoka reported 904 job cuts, followed by 600 in Nagasaki and 573 in Okinawa. Many lost positions are at hotels, manufacturers, and retailers. The number almost doubled since the survey was last conducted in late May. Sources: NHK
