COVID-19 Cluster Within Sagan Tosu Soccer Team

J. League first-division club Sagan Tosu organization announced that as many as nine infections within the organization have been detected, forcing the club to suspend games until at least Aug. 25. 89 players and team officials were tested on Tuesday after manager Kim Myung-hwi was found to be infected on Monday afternoon. On August 13, Fukuoka Prefecture announced 144 more cases of the new coronavirus infection. The cumulative total now stands at 3,359. The daily instances include 21 infections at Omuta High School, where a cluster developed as of Aug. 12. Most of them reportedly belong to the same in-school sports club.
