Cyclist denies drunken riding, saying he was pushing with his foot

Police arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of drunken cycling in Fukuoka’s Chuo Ward early on Oct. 17. A pedestrian called police shortly before 6 a.m. after a bicycle collided with him on a Haruyoshi sidewalk. Police said a breath test detected 0.98 milligrams of alcohol per liter. The suspect, who described himself as a restaurant employee, denied the allegation. He said he had held the handlebars with both hands and pushed himself along with his foot without pedaling, so he was not riding. Source: RKB News / KBC News
