Sources told the Nishinippon Shimbun that Daihatsu Motor Co. subsidiary Daihatsu Kyushu will locate its new vehicle design and development center in Nishi Ward, Fukuoka City, near the new campus of Kyushu University. The company chose Fukuoka City because they thought it would be easier to recruit talented technicians from the immediate area. According to the company, plans call for about 200 technicians to work in the center, which is expected to open in the first half of the next decade.
