Daily Infections Surpass Six Hundred in Fukuoka

On May 12, Fukuoka Prefecture reported 635 new cases of C19 infection. The daily count topped six hundred for the first time; 313 of the new cases were found in Fukuoka City, 88 in Kitakyushu, and 45 in Kurume. New clusters have been confirmed at a medical institution in Fukuoka City, a high school in Kurume City, and a welfare facility in Hirokawa Town. According to the prefecture, 62% of the weekly cases have unknown transmission routes. The latest figures also indicate 70.7% of 1,049 secured hospital beds are occupied as of May 11, and amongst them are 136 critical care beds with an occupancy rate of 44.8%. Also, a total of 3,755 patients were treated at home and in accommodation facilities. The vice governor of the prefecture attended a press conference, where he stressed the severeness of the medical situation and urged cooperation in preventing the spread of the virus.
