The Fukuoka Labor Bureau revealed that the number of foreign nationals working in Fukuoka Prefecture was 53,948 as of Oct. 2021, marking the first decline in the past nine years. Vietnamese nationals are the most numerous (19,734 persons / 36.6%,) followed by Chinese workers (10,981 / 20.4%) and Nepalese (7,468 / 13.8%.) While the immigration restrictions to control the new coronavirus infections are believed to have triggered the decline of 1,009, the number of foreigner-hiring companies grew to 10,420 (+6.5%) in the prefecture during the same period. *The figures are based on reports from local employers and exclude those with diplomatic jobs etc. Source: Fukuoka Labor Bureau
