A group of residents in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, are producing deerskin shoes for babies. The group leader, Tsutomu Nozawa, sought ways to make use of the meat and skin of deer captured as a result of animal control. To make the most of the soft and smooth touch of buckskin, the members have learned shoemaking from a Goto-native craftsman and provide special pairs of the first batch of shoes to customers in all regions.
