There were 260 cases of disciplinary action taken against police officers in Japan last year. The Fukuoka Prefectural Police recorded 23 incidents, which is the highest number of any prefecture in the country. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department was second with 21 incidents reported, followed by 19 within the Osaka Prefectural Police. The national figure fell by six compared to 2016 and has decreased for five consecutive years.
