Dongurimura to Close Next Autumn

Dongurimura in Mitsuse, Saga City, will close in autumn 2027 after declining visitor numbers and aging facilities, KBC reported. The experiential tourism park informed a local residents’ association of the decision on August 10. Opened in 1988 near the Saga-Fukuoka prefectural border, Dongurimura became a popular destination where visitors could interact with animals and take part in agricultural activities. The operator said attendance has fallen significantly compared with the park’s early years, while the aging condition of its facilities also contributed to the decision to close. Plans for the site after the closure have not yet been determined and will be considered later. The park said it intends to continue operating until its final day while honoring the history of the facility and its long-standing role in the local community. Source: KBC News / NHK News
