Tokyo-based technology firm Information Strategy and Technology has established a development and sales base in Kitakyushu, marking its first regional office. On December 18, the company signed a location agreement with the city and plans to hire over 10 engineers annually from 2025 onwards to expand operations.
The new office is located in BIZIA KOKURA, a cutting-edge building completed in July. The firm intends to collaborate with nearby institutions like the Kitakyushu City University, which is set to open a new digital academic department, by dispatching lecturers. President Jun Takai cited the area’s vibrant community and access to skilled talent from local universities as key factors in the decision.
Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi highlighted the impact of IT firms in curbing youth and female population outflow, noting that the city has attracted 188 companies and created 4,610 jobs over the past decade. The company has also been working with the city since 2022 on projects like a diagnostic system for roadside convex mirrors. Source: Information Strategy and Technology
