Ex-Officer Admits to Shaking Infant Son

The first hearing was held at the Fukuoka District Court for a former Fukuoka Prefectural Police sergeant accused of violently shaking his two-month-old son, causing severe brain damage. The defendant, Ryohei Fujishima, 33, admitted to the charges.

The incident occurred in November three years ago at the family’s home in Kama City. Prosecutors stated that the accused, under stress from work and parenting, forcefully grabbed his son’s armpits and shook him before dropping him onto a bed.

During questioning, Fujishima explained he had been fatigued and underestimated the harm of his actions. He also expressed remorse, pledging to stay by his son’s side for life. Source: NHK
