Exchange Students In Fukuoka Eligible for ¥50,000 Financial Aid

Fukuoka City announced financial support for students, including exchange students. Reflecting upon the extension of the ongoing state of emergency until Mar. 7, a subsidy of ¥50,000 will be provided to students at universities, colleges, technical schools, and other Japanese-language education facilities. Those residing in Fukuoka City and receive low-income exemptions (*both applicants and their parents/ including the new coronavirus-induced income declines after 2020) are eligible for the program. Details for online application procedures will be announced in late-February, and the subsidy will be paid from around mid-March. The city also announced additional financial aid for companies that do not meet the national Government’s financial relief program’s criteria. Up to ¥150,000 will be paid to mid and small-sized companies (up to ¥100,000 for self-employment businesses) that experienced a 30% ~ 50% decline in sales. Source: Fukuoka City / Asahi / Mainichi
