Financial Relief for Low-Income Families in Fukuoka

Fukuoka City has announced that it will begin distributing a one-time payment of 50,000 yen per child to low-income households with children from May 11, as a measure to combat rising living costs. The decision to provide financial support to these families was made by the government, and the necessary supplementary budget was approved in Fukuoka City’s March extraordinary session. Eligible households include single-parent families receiving child support payments in March and families who received the 50,000 yen emergency measure last fiscal year due to the pandemic. No application is required for these households. Additionally, families experiencing sudden financial difficulties due to rising living costs can apply for the grant through the city, with the application process set to begin on June 1. More information will be announced on the city’s website as it becomes available. Meanwhile, regardless of the presence of children, the city plans to provide a separate 30,000 yen payment per household to households exempt from residential tax. Preparations are underway, with the aim of starting distributions by the end of June. Source: Fukuoka City / NHK
