Four Asian elephants from Myanmar have arrived at Fukuoka Zoo after a delayed transfer. The elephants, traveling over 21 hours via Thailand, landed at Kitakyushu Airport on the morning of the 29th. They appeared healthy, moving their trunks and opening their mouths energetically. After quarantine, they were transported to the zoo in two trucks, a journey of about three hours. At the zoo, a young elephant about the height of an adult human was seen drinking water and playing with its mother. The zoo confirmed that all four elephants, including a three-year-old female, are in good health. They will undergo a three-month acclimatization period before being publicly exhibited in the fall.
