Free Transit Campaign Begins

Kitakyushu City will launch a public transportation campaign on July 17 to encourage more residents to travel around the city and support local businesses. Through the my route smartphone app, users can claim two free one-day transit passes valid on Nishitetsu and municipal buses, the Kitakyushu Monorail, and the Chikuho Electric Railroad. The city will also offer premium taxi voucher booklets worth ¥3,000 for ¥2,000, with up to two available per person at taxi offices and other locations. In addition, free ride tickets will be distributed for community transportation services operating in 10 districts. Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi said the campaign is intended to increase public transport use, boost activity across the city, and support a more sustainable transportation network.
