On July 12, an ordinance for levying accommodation taxes on guests who stay overnight in Fukuoka Prefecture was approved by the prefectural assembly. The ordinance includes taxation of ¥200 for hotel and ryokan guests in municipalities other than Fukuoka City, where double taxation by the prefecture (¥50) and the city (¥150) will begin. It also says that in case other municipalities introduces their accommodation tax in the future, the prefectural accommodation tax will be reduced to ¥100.
