The Fukuoka City General Account Budget for fiscal year 2017 (starts Apr. 2017) will be the highest ever at ¥830,000,000,000 to ¥840,000,000,000. The 2016 budget was ¥784,500,000,000. The increased budget has resulted from an increased population and new housing development, leading to higher tax revenues in the city. Plans for 2017 include the development of ‘new’ traditional craft goods for foreign visitors, rehabilitation support in local areas, and events at the Vegefru stadium.
