Due to increased operating expenses, Fukuoka City is closing its office in Shanghai. The office opened in 2009 to support Fukuokan companies who were extending their business into China and to promote Chinese tourism to Fukuoka. Fukuoka City is considering another form of support for businesses with Chinese operations. Fukuoka City continues to operate its office in Busan, Korea. Source: NHK News Web, Feb. 9, 2017.
