Fukuoka City Considers Extending Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall

Fukuoka City Mayor, Soichiro Takashima, stated in a parliamentary session on March 2nd that the city will consider extending the Tenjin underground shopping mall towards the north, with the aim of enhancing circulation in the area. The Tenjin North area is currently undergoing redevelopment, including the integration of Mina Tenjin and the rebuilding of Fukuoka Central Post Office and Aeon Shoppers Fukuoka. However, accessibility from the central Tenjin area has been criticized. The Tenjin underground shopping mall, which opened in 1976, is approximately 590 meters long and is currently connected from Tenjin Minami Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line to Mina Tenjin.
