A special finance committee in the Fukuoka City Council responded to questions on the ninth about the city’s indebtedness. The committee answered that their projection for the city’s outstanding debt at the end of the new fiscal year will be 2.5268 trillion yen, or 1.79 million yen per resident. Though this is a decline of just under 40,000 yen per person from last year’s total, council members urged the committee to take further steps to ensure a solid financial footing for the city.
