On July 14, Fukuoka City became one of four ‘Global Startup Cities’ in Japan. As part of the national ‘Beyond Limits. Unlock Our Potential’ program; the four regions will receive support from the central government, including introductions to international investors and appropriation of budgets. Japan aims to create startup ecosystems that can compete internationally. The program also appointed four regions, including Kitakyushu as ‘Startup Cities,’ which also seek to nurture startups in specific business fields such as agriculture and the environment.
